Snow Leopards No Longer Considered “Endangered"

It is now thought that there are at least 4,000 adult snow leopards still prowling the peaks of the Himalayas, meaning that the felines no longer meet the criteria set by the IUCN for “endangered status”. While this is clearly good news, the conservationists involved have warned that this does not mean that the cats are doing well or face no threats. They are still declining, just not as rapidly as we once thought.

Suppose you live in the world of Game of Thrones, and you had to incorporate a technology from the modern world.

Which one would it be, and why? =)

(By the way, here is an attempt to analyse why Westeros still hasn't had an Industrial Revolution).

This year will mark the earliest day of the year that Earth has spent its "resource budget", i.e. the day when we have consumed more resources than the planet could restore in a year. The rest of the year beyond this day will be "borrowing from the future" resource-wise, so to speak.

This year the day is August 2.

Food for thought.

Not including Saudi Arabia, the main source of terrorists, in the travel ban list, is the biggest piece of evidence for the hypocrisy of this US administration. Not that any other US administration would have done any different either - but arbitrarily defined travel bans are not a case we could easily contemplate about, what with the lack of precedent.

When you hear "all-girls robotics team from Afghanistan", you might assume the Taliban would be what stops their success, not the US president...

California Just Signed A New Climate Change Agreement With China

The rebellion is in full swing, and it seems the Paris agreement was the catalyst.

Trump's behaviour in the wake of the London attacks has been nothing short of despicable. It would have been a non-issue, had he not occupied the position of the leader of the most powerful and influential, presumably modern, democratic and enlightened society on this planet. If this is the face that the American nation is gong to present to the rest of the world for the next four years, I'm afraid it will have lost almost all its credibility by the time his term is done - to deep, far-reaching long-term consequences.

Trump has withdrawn the US from the Paris agreement. This places the US next to such awesome countries like Syria and Nicaragua.
