Shift of course on partial birth abortion

The supreme court of USA decided to confirm a previous ruling which bans the so-called "partial birth abortion". The decision which was enforced with the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act was contested and ultimately brought to the Supreme Court. And it voted 5 to 4 to uphold the ban.

The news was welcomed by the Republicans which some call the "pro-life camp" or the "right-wing Christian team". And condemned by the Demorats who claim to be defending the "woman's right to choose" and the "woman's health".

I do not know what to think about this. On the one side, a woman should really be able to decide on her own, after consulting a competent specialist. But at the same time, when I imagine the practice of bringing a viable and almost fully functional human being out of the womb and then more or less decapitating it, I get sick and I want to cry. But also think about the dangers for a woman's health from the carrying of a disfunctional fetus...The question is very sensitive, really...
