US ‘threatened Ecuador with trade sanctions’ if it introduced UN breastfeeding resolution
...The US backed the resolution after Russia said it would.
I am just going to leave this here without any comment.

Re: Iran deal
The worst peace is better than war. However, Trump and his circle are not interested in peace.

The Cambridge Analytica scandal
Now Zuckerberg is apologising and saying it was very "unfortunate" that Facebook was used for stealing personal data...
Except, that won't do. Facebook is designed to collect people's data and sell it to advertisers. He cannot expect that the data would always find its way into the "right" hands.

Sexual harassment in the Euro parliament
Brussels faces its own harassment demons
As MEPs prepare to debate sexual violence and harassment, the European Parliament’s own policies and procedures for dealing with serious allegations are coming under scrutiny.

What about the Saudis?
Not including Saudi Arabia, the main source of terrorists, in the travel ban list, is the biggest piece of evidence for the hypocrisy of this US administration. Not that any other US administration would have done any different either - but arbitrarily defined travel bans are not a case we could easily contemplate about, what with the lack of precedent.

Trump and the London attacks
Trump's behaviour in the wake of the London attacks has been nothing short of despicable. It would have been a non-issue, had he not occupied the position of the leader of the most powerful and influential, presumably modern, democratic and enlightened society on this planet. If this is the face that the American nation is gong to present to the rest of the world for the next four years, I'm afraid it will have lost almost all its credibility by the time his term is done - to deep, far-reaching long-term consequences.

About those CIA leaks...
Predictably, the CIA is shifting the focus on the leakers rather than the content of the leaks. They are now saying the purpose of WikiLeaks is to undermine the intelligence services' capacity to defend the US from its enemies.
What about the intelligence services' undermining of their own citizens' civil freedoms?

The Waldo Moment
‘Black Mirror’ Creator Predicts Trump Will Be President: ‘I Find It F*cking Terrifying’
Charlie Brooker, the showrunner of the acclaimed dystopian sci-fi series, is convinced that Donald Trump will win the presidential election. God help us all.
...And he was right. Even if he didn't take his own prediction seriously at the time. I watched that Black Mirror episode the other day, The Waldo Moment. The similarities are eery. And that one did not end so well.

Trump pick tips climate-change anxiety into full-blown panic
People laughed in 2005 when a little-known energy-industry advocate with a BA in philosophy and an MSc in political science rounded on the UK’s chief scientist, David King, calling him “an alarmist with ridiculous views who knows nothing about climate change”. They’re not laughing now. The man in question, Myron Ebell, has been named by President-Elect Donald Trump to head his transition team at the US Environmental Protection Agency. The fox has been handed the keys of the ecological henhouse.
