When will Russia stop destroying its journalists?

Whoever did this to Kashin has gone too far and shot themselves in the foot.

He is lucky those bastards did not kill him as they have dozens of other journalists in the 21st century, to this very day...

A very familiar pattern. It looks as if those are some unorganised lads who just dont like what he has to say, but when you dig a bit deeper...

Why would they? Modern Russia is not the USSR, but it can no more as yet tolerate free and open criticism than the democracies, and unlike the democracies hasn't the ability to ignore the facts it dislikes and overblow the facts it likes.

Those lads have some very well-placed Friends In High Places who don't like pointing out the Emperor Has No Clothes. Unlike the US government, Russia's can't quite get away with flagrant censorship or selctively editing the facts to ensure reality as it is disappears instead of reality as they wish it was.
