Films about Irish history
Mar. 23rd, 2009 09:43 pmLast week was St. Patrick's Day and I am still in the "Irish mood". So here are some interesting films about the Irish/Celtic history.
Most of the films below probably should be listed as "fictional" history. Created more for entertainment than educational purposes, these films represent the only accounts of their heritage for many people of Irish descent.
Bloody Sunday (2002)
Captain Boycott (1947)
The Fighting Prince of Donegal (1966)
In the Name of the Father (1993)
The Irish in America (1995)
The Irish in America (1998)
Michael Collins (1996)
The Molly Maguires (1970)
Mountains of the Moon (1990)
Omagh (2004)
One Man's Hero (1998)
The Plough and the Stars (1936)
Some Mother's Son (1996)
Boudica: Warrior Queen (2003)
Tristan + Isolde (2006)
The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006)
The Year of the French (1982)
Next time I will tell in more detail about my favourites among these.
