FrOutdated TV tropes
Science fiction can be insightful and far-sighted. It can at times even inspire real technological and scientific progress. Or it could often lead into dead ends. But to me the most fascinating thing about science fiction is when its predictions come to pass, even if in a lightly (or sometimes significantly) modified form.
Here is a short list of ideas that have been touted in science fiction over the years, and which now, from the distance of time, seem outdated, obscure, obsolete, even ridiculous. I'm sure you'd be able to come up with additions.
There is even a special term for this phenomenon: Zeerust.
